For nearly 16 years, Planet Secure has served homeowners and businesses in the northwest Florida market, providing expertise in surveillance systems, home automation and other low-voltage applications. Founder Ken Richards has worked to expand his team and offerings over the years, helping customers understand the practical applications of home automation – areas like HVAC and energy management, lighting control, video surveillance, access control and security and fire protection.
Richards’ success serving the market has allowed him to grow the business, employing a team of 19 professionals, and expand into a second showroom. The Panama City Beach Showroom is expected to open in the Spring of 2025, and will feature many of the same unique products and experiences that have made their Santa Rosa Beach location a must-see for their clients.
Planet Secure is among the newest dealers to join Oasys, coming aboard just after CEDIA 2024 in September. At the recommendation of his Sony and Klipsch reps, Ken stopped by the Oasys booth to learn more about the benefits of joining the group. The buying group experience was new to him and his business.
“It was eye-opening, talking to the Oasys team in Denver,” Richards says. “I had no idea about some of the major savings I could realize from many of the products and brands that I was already doing business with.”
Ken has no plans to slow down, either. Planet Secure recently completed one of the largest projects in the company’s 16-year history. A $125K-package, he was able to install a system complete with 40 Uniview cameras, 15 Wetsound speakers and 7 subwoofers with Atlas processors and amps – not to mention the full rack complete with LED backlighting. The system was built on an Araknis network.
Richards expressed that, over the coming months, he’s excited to dive in deeper with the group, take part in more of the education and networking opportunities, and explore even more ways to leverage the product programs now available to him as he looks for more ways to streamline business.
